Microsoft is very good at knowing what markets they can be successful in and what markets they should avoid. Usually when Microsoft gets into a new market they tend to take over, become a market leader, and start dictating what direction the market should go in. Two markets that Microsoft stepped in and dominated when it looked like they had no business being in either one of them was the networking software market and the video game console market.
Years ago when Microsoft first entered the computer networking software market Novell Netware was king and they had decided on a platform that they felt would make them the number one networking software company for years to come. Microsoft stepped in and not only did they completely take the networking software market from Novell, they began to innovate the market in such a way that made Novell's ideas obsolete almost from the moment Novell released them.
Now Microsoft is starting to do the same thing with their and the accessories that are being released are an indication that the rest of the video game industry better put their thinking caps on and find a way to stay with Microsoft or else the new line of accessories could threaten to leave them in the dust. The newest line of Microsoft accessories are all parts of a new way to play video games that others have introduced in the past but, as always, Microsoft is setting out to improve.

For years there have been remedial versions of interactive console games available but no one really took the time and effort to perfect it. With the newest line of accessories it has become apparent that Microsoft is once again blazing a path that others must follow to stay in business. The two key accessories in this new line of accessories are the headset and the modem. With the headset you can hear and talk to people that you are playing interactive games with from anywhere in the world. With the modem you can hook up to your home's wireless router and put your XBOX on the internet to interact with anyone in the world.
Microsoft is never kind to the competition and these new lines of accessories show that Microsoft is once again trying to revolutionize an industry that they joined late in that industry's history. With the new lines of accessories that are coming out they may have just started to do that.
